According to legend, Hung Gar was named after Hung Hei-Gun, a Shaolin monk Jee Sim’s pupil. The craft was brought to Guandong by Hung, a tea seller by profession. Honesty, righteousness, directness, and an iron will are stressed by Hung Gar. Strong and low stance practice, bridge (forearm) training, low snapping kicks, and Root development are prioritized in the training (centreing the chi ).
