Profile
TONGLONG (PRAYING MANTIS) comes in two different varieties: a Northern Style and a Southern Style. Low stances and a lot more leg work define the Northern Style. The Southern Style consists mainly of’stepping’ with forceful and efficient hits thrown from a firm ‘base,’ with only a few low effective kicks as legwork.
In TONGLONG, the full fist and knuckles are hardly ever used when attacking an opponent, instead placing more emphasis on the other parts (side and palm) or shapes of the hand (like the one knuckle variation better known as the Phoenix eye fist) to deliver force to nerve points and the more vulnerable areas of the body, like the neck.
