Profile
Grandmaster Young Youl Oh founded Oh’s Taekwondo Centre in Collingwood in the early 1970s after moving to Australia from Korea recently. Grandmaster Oh arrived as a 5th Dan Black Belt with a highly illustrious past, having won multiple Korean National Taekwondo titles. He also served a protracted term of service in Vietnam as a Taekwondo instructor for the American and South Vietnamese military forces during the Vietnam War.
Classes were initially held in a small space on the first floor of a workshop in Wellington Street. However, Grandmaster Oh kept the Collingwood location as a branch while relocating to a Flemington headquarters in the middle of the 1970s. Mr. Henry Beayni, one of the branch’s new owners, then took charge.
