Profile
Despite not being a member of the regular Silla army, the Hwarang were renowned for their military prowess, sense of allegiance to the King and Nation, and bravery in battle. Hwarangdo, a military, educational, and social organization, as well as noble youths of the Silla dynasty, had a significant impact on and enhanced the Korean culture and martial arts of the time. Devotion to one’s country, respect for and obedience to one’s leader, loyalty to one’s friend, bravery in battle, and refraining from needless violence and killing were the pillars of the Hwarang’s code of honor. The Hwarang’s dedication to advancing the unity and welfare of the nation is remembered as their most significant function in the Silla Dynasty, which lasted from roughly 57 BC to 935 AD.
